The PLC project began in 1996 when, after years of high-level professional experience with leading operators in the electrical energy market, Francesco Esposito decided to found PLC System, together with financial partners in his family.
Francesco Esposito went on to establish a small industrial reality based in Casandrino (Naples), capitalizing on the professional experience he acquired over the years.
His initial activities involved minor electrical installations where he took advantage of his considerable technical skills and those of his long-term collaborators, especially panel operators and installers for high and extra-high voltage systems.

However, the actual springboard for the company was the development of the renewable energy sector in Italy at the end of the 1990s. With the foresight of an entrepreneur, and his personal and logistic proximity to companies like IVPC and Schneider Electric, Francesco Esposito was able to establish himself as one of the key players in the sector regarding the installation of electrical power infrastructures for renewable energy plants.

In 2005, the challenge in the photovoltaic sector began, and PLC became one of the principal players in the turnkey installation of BOPs (Balance of Plants) for this specific sector.

In 2006, from a branch of PLC System, PLC Service was founded. Backed by the experience of its Parent Company, PLC Service established itself in the highly specialized market sector of HV equipment testing, thermography, and Global Services applied to high, medium, and low voltage substations and, particularly, in protections.
To guarantee its clients high levels of quality in services and production performance for plants, PLC Service has, since 2006, invested in integrated management systems for spare parts and in remote control systems for plants through a control center that operates 365 days a year, overseen 24 hours a day by qualified personnel. This investment also included testing equipment, inspections, and commissioning plants.

PLC began approaching the market as an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractor.

In 2012, PLC Service introduced a new turnkey Balance of Point (BOP) maintenance service onto the market, with high standards of reliability that reached 99%.
During the same year, after riding the wave of euphoria of the Italian market, PLC initiated a process of internationalization starting with South Africa, where today PLC System controls PLC South Africa, a company governed by South African law involved in the construction and management of plants, with the goal of expanding into new areas in all of Africa, especially in the sub-Saharan and Maghreb regions, as well as in the Middle East. .

PLC expanded into the South African market.

In 2014, with the addition of new professional figures, PLC began its transformation into a managerial type company. In completing its way towards continuous growth, the company began a reorganization process aimed at founding a holding company that would control all the various legal entities.

Starting in September 2016, a corporate reorganization began, which also included the involvement of qualified investors, with the objective of opening the company up to third party capital.

In 2017, a division specialized in the inverter sector was constituted within PLC Service, aimed at internalizing activities with a higher technological content, while developing the market of reference in northern in Italy, thanks to its new executive offices in Bologna.
